How to Make Karamani Masiyal

Ingredients:
- a cup of karamani
- 10-12 tiny peeled onions
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1 lemon juice, salt to taste
Seasoning
- 2 teaspoons til oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2-3 red chilies, cut into pieces
- 1 curry leaf sprig
Method:
- Wash and soak the karamani overnight. Cook till soft the next day in a pressure cooker. When the potatoes are cold enough to handle, lightly mash them.
- Heat the oil, add the seasonings in the order listed, and when the curry leaves are done, add the onions (cut them into slices if they are too large) and fry until light brown. Stir in the turmeric and coriander powders.
- Add the cooked karamani and salt and continue to boil for a few minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the lime juice.
