How to Make Thaen Mittai Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 cup parboiled rice
- 1/4 cup urad dal
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 4 drops lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- Food Color Orange
- frying oil
Method
- 1 cup parboiled rice, 1/4 cup urad dal, washed and soaked for 3 hours in a bowl
- After soaking, mash them into a smooth paste with a small amount of water.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground batter with the orange food coloring and well mix.
- Then stir in 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and set aside.
- To prepare the sugar syrup, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Now, add 4 drops of lemon juice to it and set aside the sugar syrup.
- Let’s use the batter to fry the balls.
- Heat some oil in a pan, then create little balls of batter and put them one at a time into the hot oil. Fry the balls until crispy, then take them from the oil and place them in the sugar syrup.
- Allow the sugar syrup to soak the balls for 10 minutes.
- Now, in a blender, turn 1/4 cup of sugar into a fine powder, and roll the soaked sugar candies in the sugar to coat them. This step is optional.
- Roll the moistened candies in the sugar one at a time.
- Thaen mittai, or sugar candy, is now ready for consumption.
